History of Iowa politics.

Ever since the statehood of Iowa in 1845, Iowa has been a Democratic State throughout history as a state. From the 1800s to the 1900s all the way to the 2000s era, the state of Iowa has been a hotbed of Democratic politics.
For the past 30 years beginning in the 1980s, Iowa has been the state in the United States where the primary elections for president were hosted at. The state of Iowa has been a political hotbed where politicians promote their presidential campaigns at for many years now. The primaries are the most important day of their political careers. Many caucuses are held there to determine a leader for each political party.

However the voting process in Iowa is not that common among other states in the United States. Iowa does not allow absentee ballots as some other the other states permit. Absentee ballots are counted as invalid in Iowa. That's how Iowa is different from most states in terms of voting in elections.
