In China, the government monitors everything when it comes to the internet. Internet censorship is mandatory by Chinese Internet laws and Internet rights. Chinese Internet laws and their governmental policies mandate and dictate that Internet censorship be fully enforced. In other words, Internet rights are extremely controlled by the Chinese government as Internet censorship is plays a wholeheartedly huge role in Chinese culture.
In 2015, the government of China is trying to pass laws requiring that Chinese citizens pay for their Internet on their SSN cards. Some Chinese citizens seemed to be outraged by this. However only few citizens began protesting this governmental policy. The Chinese news media rarely reports news about Internet rights and "politics". In other words, the senate and Chinese government are literally forcing their own citizens to pay even more for their internet. The Internet laws of China are strict and rigid in a complex way.
The Chinese government rules the Internet with an iron fist. Emails, texts, pictures, and other electronic formats of communication are stringently monitored by the Chinese government. These Internet laws are strictly enforced by the Chinese government. Citizens have been arrested and convicted by the Chinese government for certain cyber crimes they have committed through the Internet and various other electronics able to send messages in electronic formats of communication. Many pirate servers, public servers, and private servers have been getting cracked down on under police pressure enforced by their government and them. Some of these known pirate servers, public servers, and private servers have been shut down indefinitely by the government and police as well. The Internet laws of China are strict and rigid in a complex way.
Now the Chinese government have recently changed their internet laws. More and more strict laws concerning Internet laws and Internet censorship are being passed each year by the senate and Chinese government.Many pirate servers and private servers have been popping up a lot in response to this because of these political changes in Internet laws of China. Chinese internet giants such as Tencent and Baidu however are opposed to Internet censorship despite Chinese citizens lack of knowledge on Internet rights and Internet censorship.

None of which are totally surprising at all.
